Parenting fails for today! :-)

Hmm, okay I was a bit groggy from an afternoon sleep so that is my excuse.

I usually  mix up my kids but usually only their names!  Today my teen is in the kitchen moaning "I am dying!" while doing the dishes (does that happen in other people's houses too?) and I am talking to my 6 year old.  I glance over at the teenager but don't talk to him, instead I bend down and ask the six year old why he thinks he is dying?  Umm, wrong kid!

And then I go to get the washing in that I asked the 12 year old to hang out yesterday because I was rushing a uni assignment in.  This is what I see!

The same 12 yr old asked me what is for dinner, than changed his question to what are we eating the next time we eat.  Hmm, might have been a bit slack lately on regular meal times between being sick and having the pressure of a Uni assignment due that I ended up submitting 2 weeks late.

So... I hope I am not the only one who needs a restart button some days.  lol

Turning Your Computer Off, or Not?

Maybe this is what happens when we don't turn off at night.

Quick Quip

Three things you should never try to "raise" without giving your full attention to them.

Bread

Vegetables

and

Children!

Yup,
shortest written post ever on this blog.

A Clean Joke!

While on safari in cannibal country, a traveler came across a cafe in a clearing in the jungle.  The sign out front advertised:

  • Fried Missionary     $5.00
  • Boiled Hunter          $4.50
  • Grilled Safari Guide   $5.00
  • Stuffed Politician      $15.00
When the traveler asked why so much for the politician, the chef replied, "Have you ever tried to clean one?"

A conversation with a 12 year old

Me: Where are you?  You're supposed to be doing the dishes.

Him:  I am on the loo.

Me:  Why is it you always need to go to the loo when I ask you to do something?  You can watch TV for hours or play on the computer and not need to go but as soon as I ask you to do something you need to go.

Him:  (Raspberry)

Me:  (Raspberry)

Both:  Giggle

Well, I guess at least we are keeping the lines of communication open, if you can call blowing raspberries at each other communication.  lol

Out of the Mouth of Son 2

I was talking to ds2 this evening after picking him from gymnastics and I commented that he may need new shoes as his toes are creeping towards the edge.  He said that there was still lots of room under the velcro straps.  I told him that I used to have long and thin feet like his before I got old and fat.  He said "You're not old Mum."

Geez, thanks son.  I think!

Aliens on My Ceiling

We gave the boys these for Christmas in their stockings.  One smart alec child (and if you know us you know which one I mean) decided to throw them up on to the ceiling of my dining room.  We live in an old house so that is quite high up.  I now have 12 aliens on my ceiling and not a single one has dropped for almost 2 weeks.

It does make dinner interesting.  We count them and then try to figure out which one will drop first and when.
